Okinawa

Went to Okinawa for a weekend with a few friends... some of the clearest waters and tastiest foods I've ever had.
Walking to our hostel, we found these. Snake liquor with real ones coiled up with the mouths open. we bought shots on sunday night of it..... it was smooth, but a bit spicy.

Naha has numerous shopping streets selling omiyage and random treats. Okinawa has THE best omiyage, the selections are creative. the glassware is really nice too...(right laurel??)

Okinawan food: Taco Rice
We ended up eating this everyday while we were in OKinawa. you can even buy taco sushi rolls in the convenience stores that are AMAZING!

Night swimming at Naminoue beach

Sea grapes! they didn't have much taste, but the texture was like ikura or tobiko. you dip them in ponzu.

Goya Champuru: champuru means to stir-fry. traditional okinawan dish. Goya is really bitter, but the flavor isn't bad. kind of like zuchinni....i hear it's really good for you too.

There was a bar on top of our hostel.

Okinawa Soba: HUGE chunks of tender meat. the noodles were kind like saimin. very filling.

Driving to a small island on the other side of the main island.

We stopped at a small fruit sand that was selling watermelons.

So good.

Island hopping.

We made it to Hamahiga island...and found a secluded beach.

it was beautiful.

Crystal clear blue water.

Rented a snorkel and I hearded a school of tropical fish from one side of the beach the other. I later saw a sea snake and swam for my life back to shore.


The rocks were cool.

Golden sand.

We laid around the beach the whole day... so quiet.

After soaking in the sun, we drove back into town.

Stopped for watermelon popsicles....the BEST ever. they have little chocolates for seeds.

Taco Sushi rolls! so good.

Our lavish restaurant we ate at for dinner. There was a glass-covered pool that you could walk over.

We ordered the snake liquor.... They brought the bottle to show us.
